Bill Lazor, WG’87, has been involved with the Wharton Club of Southern California since 2003. He served as a member of the Wharton Orange County planning team from 2003 through 2006 where he managed the Wharton OC database and helped to plan and/or execute over 60 networking and other local alumni events in LA and OC. He recently rejoined the OC planning team and currently serves as VP Membership and Web Administrator for Wharton So Cal.
Bill is currently Director, Financial Planning & Analysis for L3Harris Technologies, Electron Devices Division, in Torrance, California, where he leads a team of 10 finance professionals in financial planning and business management. He is a strategic financial partner with senior executives enabling them to make wise decisions that positively impact their stakeholders. He has proven success facilitating profitable growth for international companies through insightful research, analysis, planning, forecasting, and project management in multi-industry assignments. He put together the first three-year strategic plan for Toyota Material Handling USA (forklifts) that helped them to achieve #1 in their market in the US and North America when it was implemented.
Bill resides in Huntington Beach where he has lived for the past 32 years since attending The Wharton School in Philadelphia. He maintains a weekly yoga practice to increase flexibility and reduce stress. He is active as a volunteer in the community with his church in Irvine and in Huntington Beach.
Monica Jan, WG ’12. Vice Chair Wharton Alumni Angel Network, Angel Outreach, Deal Flow & Member of Steering Committee
Monica brings over 22 years of experience in the technology and aerospace industries. Her expertise ranges from processors and chipsets to full system design for space, robotics, and consumer electronics. She has been involved in research and development in artificial intelligence, networking architectures and hardware, telematics systems, automatic test equipment, and space systems. During her tenure at Northrop Grumman, her architecture and implementation of a satellite switching subsystem won the Chairmanâ€™s Innovation Award. In her consulting career, she has worked with both entrepreneurs and corporations on technical and product development, business development, strategic partnerships, operations and cross-functional process improvement, and supply chain alignment. She has also led a corporate turnaround, and advised high-tech start-ups on their start-up and technology strategies. As part of the steering committee for the Wharton Angel Network and Wharton Aerospace Ventures, Monica works actively with investors and entrepreneurs.
Monica holds both BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Southern California, a Systems Engineering certificate from the California Institute of Technology, and an MBA from The Wharton School. She currently holds a faculty position at The Wharton School with the Global Consulting Practicum Program.
When not at work, you can find Monica coaching triathletes or teaching adaptive skiing on the slopes.
Steve is the Vice President of Sponsorships for Wharton So Cal. He’s been instrumental in developing plans to connect companies based in Southern California with the Wharton community through event underwriting and club sponsorships.
He serves as Chief Executive Officer of Diversified Manufacturing of California, Inc. Prior to joining DMOC in 2017, Steve received his MBA from The Wharton School, graduating with a double major in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management. Concurrent with his MBA he gained valuable experience interning with Graham Partners, a Private Equity firm in Philadelphia, PA, and LeBaronBrown Industries, a private investment vehicle in New York City. Prior to attending Wharton, Steve served 12 years in the United States Air Force, where he culminated his career as an F-16 pilot at USAF Weapons School.
Meesh Pierce is the Vice President of Technology and OC Programming for the Wharton Club of Southern California. She’s been a WSC volunteer since 1999 and served as club president from 2001-2008. She currently serves the club by organizing networking and lifelong learning events in Orange County. Don’t be surprised if she asks you to speak!
Meesh has spent her career in software development, strategy and marketing, and has had the pleasure of working at a variety of entertainment giants such as Disney, Sony Music, Ticketmaster, Warner Bros, and Fandango, to tiny start-ups and family-run businesses like Amor Boutique Hotel in Sayulita Mexico.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Wharton as well as an MBA from Wharton. Neither time did she major in finance, instead choosing the more esoteric challenges of Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management. She loves data, strategy and the nuances of people dynamics. Meesh lives in Newport Beach with her husband and two sons.
Shari Wakiyama is the President of the Wharton Club of Southern California. Prior to moving to California, Shari started and ran the Wharton Club of Maryland.
She currently is the Director of Product for Metropolis. Shari has more than twenty-five years of experience in product management, data science, technology, marketing, strategy and finance. She formerly served as Director of Product at Fandango where she led the Company’s customer and data technology initiatives, and Director, Data Science and Product at Inmar, a leading provider of technology, services and insights to the consumer, retail and healthcare industries, where she led the company’s Data Science Team. She has also served as a vice president with M&T Bank, senior software engineer with Northrop Grumman, electrical engineering consultant with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., and a high school mathematics and computer science teacher. She is an expert and frequent speaker in the fields of data science, marketing analytics and customer lifetime value.
Shari holds a Bachelor of Arts dual degree in Mathematics and Education from LaSalle University, an M.Ed. in Mathematics from DeSales University, an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and completed graduate work in computer science at Villanova University. In the offline world, she is a traveler, environmentalist, triathlete and third-degree black belt in traditional Japanese martial arts. She lives in Malibu with her husband and fellow Wharton alum, Steve Dollase.
Feerooz Yacoobi is a Class of 2015 Wharton undergrad with a concentration in real estate. He currently volunteers as the chair of Orange County bi-monthly happy hours, where he finds the latest hot spots for all of us to network and grab some great food!
He was a member of University of Pennsylvania’s Varsity Football Team and the 2012 Ivy League championship team. Feerooz lives in Newport Beach, CA where he works as a real estate development project manager for one of the largest self storage developers in the country. His interests outside of real estate include the beach, reading, working out, snowboarding, college football, barbecues, happy hour and taco Tuesday! He is also a football coach at Calvary Chapel High School- Costa Mesa, and is an active member of the Afghan Institute of Learning, which is a nonprofit that aims to educate women and children in the war torn country of Afghanistan. Feerooz hopes to one day run his own real estate development and investment firm.
